Son of Ryan Routh Would-Be Trump Assassin Says His Father Hates Trump ‘Like Every Reasonable Person Does’

The son of the second guy attempting to assassinate Donald Trump at a Florida golf course on Sunday has spoken out about his father, saying his father despises the former president but insists he’s not a violent person.

Oran Routh, 35, told The Daily Mail, “I don’t like Trump either,” but maintained that his father, Ryan Wesley Routh, who was arrested in connection with the alleged plot, is not prone to violence. “He’s my dad, and as far as I know, all he’s ever had were a couple of traffic tickets,” Oran said. “I love my dad, and this just doesn’t seem like him at all.”

Describing his father as a “hard worker” and “a great dad,” Oran continued, “He’s a great guy, a nice man, and has worked his whole life. He’s not a violent person.”

The incident took place while Trump was golfing at his West Palm Beach club, where U.S. Secret Service agents spotted the barrel of a rifle sticking through a chain-link fence about 300 to 500 yards from the course. They responded by opening fire on Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged would-be assassin.

Routh fled the scene in a black Nissan but was quickly arrested. Investigators later found a GoPro camera, two backpacks, and an AR-style rifle believed to have been left behind by him.

This is the second attempt on Trump’s life in the past two months.
