Former National Security Advisor John Bolton stated on Sunday that he believes Vice President Kamala Harris would maintain a foreign policy similar to that of President Joe Biden if she were to become president.
Bolton made these remarks during an appearance on John Catsimatidis’ radio show, “Cats Roundtable,” on WABC 770 AM, where he discussed U.S. foreign policy and the upcoming presidential election. Known for his frequent criticism of Donald Trump, Bolton criticized the Biden-Harris administration for its perceived “weakness,” highlighting the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, which resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. Marines and billions of dollars’ worth of military equipment falling into the hands of the Taliban. He also suggested that this “weakness” may have encouraged Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.
Bolton expressed doubts that Harris has given serious thought to her own foreign policy, implying that, as president, she would largely continue the policies she has supported as vice president. “Her administration would likely mirror another four years of Biden’s,” Bolton remarked.
“That’s the most accurate prediction one can make at this point,” he continued, “and it would leave us appearing weak and unreliable on the global stage.”
While Harris has advocated for moving beyond the Trump era by electing her as president, Bolton noted that she has yet to address why she did not push for different policies while serving as vice president. She now presents herself as part of a “new generation” of American leadership.
The Biden-Harris administration’s ongoing support for Israel in the Gaza conflict has sparked significant protests, including at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where pro-Palestinian demonstrators labeled the vice president “Killer Kamala.”
In a presidential debate on September 10, Donald Trump faced repeated questions about whether he wants Ukraine to win its war against Russia. Trump has warned that the Biden-Harris administration’s backing of Ukraine’s potential NATO membership is reckless and could escalate into a broader global conflict.
Bolton, known for his hawkish views, mentioned that he plans to write in Dick Cheney’s name on his ballot. Cheney, also a staunch advocate for military intervention, has reportedly endorsed Harris.
