Illegal Alien From Dominican Republic Charged With Brutal Murder of Family of Four in Upstate New York

A Dominican Republic national residing illegally in the U.S. has been charged with the brutal murders of a family of four in Irondequoit, New York. The crime was uncovered after a fire destroyed the family’s home, where the bodies of the victims were found.

The suspect, 34-year-old Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, is accused of fatally stabbing 30-year-old Fraime Ubaldo, 26-year-old Marangely Moreno-Santiago, and their two young children, Evangeline, 4, and Sebastian, 2, on August 31.

Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles described the case as deeply troubling, stating, “It seems like this family was very well-liked and very active in their community, so obviously my condolences go out to their family, friends, and neighbors who had to suffer through this.”

The tragic discovery was made when firefighters responded to multiple fires near the family’s home on August 31. Authorities quickly identified the deaths as homicides, with Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters calling it a “horrific scene” and noting he had never encountered anything like it in his 32-year career.

Pimentel-Soriano was arrested a week later. According to police, he had entered Puerto Rico illegally, used a fake New York ID to travel to the mainland U.S., and is also wanted for a 2019 homicide in the Dominican Republic. An arrest warrant for him was issued by Dominican authorities last week.

Irondequoit Town Supervisor Andrae Evans expressed his sorrow over the tragedy, stating, “I want you to know that the Town Board and I will authorize anything that’s needed to our police department to collaborate and to use any and all resources to bring these people to justice.”

Pimentel-Soriano now faces charges of second-degree murder, with the case advancing to a grand jury.
