The Biden-Harris administration came under scrutiny on Sunday after flying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Pennsylvania aboard a US Air Force plane for a visit to a munitions factory. Critics on social media, particularly on X, claimed the move appeared to be politically motivated in favor of the Harris campaign.
Defense Priorities Public Policy Advisor Dan Caldwell pointed out that Zelensky was transported on a US Air Force C-17, a large military cargo jet, saying, “The Biden-Harris administration is using military resources to bring a foreign leader into a battleground state to undermine their political opponents.”
Greg Price added to the criticism, noting, “Zelensky is now touring ammunition factories in Pennsylvania and attacking President Trump and JD Vance in American media outlets. A foreign leader is essentially campaigning for Harris on American soil.”
Zelensky is in the U.S. to promote his “victory plan” for Ukraine and is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. His visit to Scranton, Pennsylvania, was attended by Democratic leaders, including Gov. Josh Shapiro, Sen. Bob Casey, and Rep. Matt Cartwright, with no Republican representation present. Cartwright conveyed a message from President Biden, saying, “Thank you. And we need more.”
While Zelensky continues to ask for additional funds and military aid from the U.S. and NATO allies, reports suggest that Ukraine’s defense industry is simultaneously seeking to sell its products on the global market. Meanwhile, Gov. Shapiro signed an agreement with the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration in Ukraine to prepare for post-war reconstruction, though major corporate players like BlackRock and JP Morgan are backing a $15 billion investment fund aimed at profiting from rebuilding efforts.
During his presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump was asked if he wanted Ukraine to win its war with Russia. Trump responded by saying he wanted “the war to stop” and warned that the Biden-Harris administration’s foreign policy failures, especially in Ukraine and the Middle East, are pushing the U.S. toward “World War III.”
