Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet with former President and current GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Friday morning at Trump Tower in New York City. Trump announced the meeting during a Thursday afternoon press conference in his hometown.
“President Zelensky requested a meeting,” Trump said. “I’ll be seeing him around 9:45 at Trump Tower. What’s happening in Ukraine is tragic—so much loss of life, so much destruction. It’s truly terrible.”
Trump has repeatedly vowed that, if re-elected, he would end the war between Ukraine and Russia within 24 hours by brokering negotiations between the two nations’ leaders. Meanwhile, his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and President Joe Biden have continued to support increased military aid to Ukraine. On Thursday, Biden announced an additional $8 billion in weapons aid for the embattled country.
